It must be at least fifty years ago but it seems only yesterday when a large oak tree grew in the back yard of our house. Close to its roots we would find mushrooms. Being children, we would want to pick them but grandpa Aristidis would claim that these where home to magical creatures, invisible to the human eye and that we should leave them alone.
We would do so with much disappointment, all the while wondering about the fantastic inhabitants of these mushrooms. Often, we would spend hours hiding in the back yard hoping, to catch a glimpse of these fairy creatures that lived there. The years have passed, times have changed and the great oak tree is gone. Gone also are those enchanted mushrooms.
Today, two beautiful Amanites (mushrooms) open their doors and welcome those whose fantasy still helps them keep the old stories alive.
