Just a few hours from Athens we were 2km. south of Gythion, the picturesque seaside village of Mavrovouni in Eastern Mani.
Mavrovouni, is built on top of a hill, with beautiful traditional buildings and a vast sandy beach with coarse sand, length 5 km. approximately, with clear and clean waters.
The Mavrovouni coast is the largest and most beautiful beach of Mani, 2 km south of Gytheio. Its length is about 5 km. And has a wonderful sandy beach (coarse sand), which extends into the clear water. In the morning the sea water has a unique incredible clarity.
Every year many turtles careta- careta come here to lay their eggs. For this reason it has been installed and the Society “Archelon” station to protect the sea turtle “Caretta-Caretta” nest of newborns and the beach.
Awarded with two Blue Flags and is ideal for all ages and tastes. In some places they are organized with coffee, umbrellas and sunbeds, beach restaurants, while others enjoy the pristine nature and solitude.
